Alternative and Complementary Therapy

As alternative therapies have become more popular with pet owners, we have added these modalities to the services we offer. Alternative therapies, which are also referred to as “integrative” or “complementary” therapies, include acupuncture, chiropractic, homotoxicology, and laser therapy. We provide these therapies in conjunction with traditional medicine and surgery to help improve outcomes and to give us additional options for treating our patients. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more about whether these types of therapy could benefit your pet.

Laser therapy is a painless treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to promote and accelerate the body’s natural healing processes.  Here at Main Street Veterinary Services, MLS (Multiwave Locked System) laser therapy to our patients.  MSL laser therapy is a form of low-level laser therapy (LLLT), also referred to as cold laser, that uses multiple wavelengths of light to stimulate the healing of damaged tissues. This type of laser therapy stimulates the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) which speeds up the healing process, reduces pain and swelling, improves range of motion, and provides soothing warmth to the area of application.  Laser therapy can be used alone or in combination with other therapies like acupuncture or chiropractic care.

Laser therapy can be used to treat or manage various conditions like:
